Storage Mitcham Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Mitcham in respect of the financial year ending 31 December 2026. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Mitcham is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and with integrity. We have a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We expect the same high standards from all those we work with, including suppliers, contractors, and business partners.
Any suspected instance of modern slavery connected to our operations or supply chains will be taken extremely seriously. Where appropriate, we will work with relevant authorities and take immediate steps to address the issue, which may include suspending or terminating relationships with third parties that fail to uphold our standards.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Mitcham provides storage services to individuals and businesses. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom, and our supply chains include providers of facilities management, security, cleaning, maintenance, equipment, and professional services. While the overall risk within our industry is considered moderate, we recognise that modern slavery can occur in any sector and at any level of the supply chain.
We are committed to gaining greater visibility over our suppliers and to working only with organisations that share our commitment to human rights and fair working practices.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are in the process of strengthening our supplier due diligence processes to ensure that the risk of modern slavery is identified and mitigated. Our approach includes:
Requesting information from new and existing suppliers on their policies, procedures, and controls relating to modern slavery and human trafficking. Assessing suppliers against criteria that include labour practices, worker welfare, and ethical conduct. Requiring contractual commitments from key suppliers that they comply with all applicable modern slavery and human trafficking legislation and maintain appropriate controls within their own supply chains.
We will carry out risk-based audits and reviews of selected suppliers, focusing on those operating in higher-risk sectors or locations. These audits may be conducted by us or by independent third parties. Where concerns are identified, we will work with suppliers to implement corrective action plans and will consider terminating relationships if adequate improvements are not made.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Storage Mitcham encourages anyone connected with our business, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers, to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery at the earliest possible stage.
We provide internal reporting channels for our workforce, allowing concerns to be raised with line managers or senior management. We also expect our suppliers to maintain their own mechanisms for workers to speak up safely. Reports will be treated seriously and, as far as reasonably practicable, confidentially. No one will suffer any detriment for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
Training and Awareness
We are working to improve awareness of modern slavery risks across our business. Relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management, and facilities operations, will receive training so that they can recognise indicators of modern slavery, understand our zero-tolerance policy, and know how to respond to concerns.
We will continue to review and enhance our training materials as our understanding of modern slavery risks develops and as legislation and best practice evolve.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with senior management at Storage Mitcham. They are accountable for ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures, and controls are in place and that these are effectively implemented.
This Statement and the underlying measures will be reviewed at least annually, or more frequently if required by changes in legislation or our risk profile. The review will consider the effectiveness of our actions, the outcomes of supplier audits, feedback from stakeholders, and any incidents or concerns raised. Where necessary, we will update our policies and processes to strengthen our prevention and response.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Storage Mitcham and reflects our ongoing commitment to combatting modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains.
